Athletic Therapy

Athletic Therapy is for Everyone!

The Athletic Therapists at TAC are highly skilled in injury assessment and rehabilitation and work with you to keep you doing the activities you love.

We work with anyone who loves to move; from elite Olympic and Paralympic level athletes to those just getting into the world of physical health and wellness. There’s an athlete in every body.

Don’t let the name fool you. You do not need to be a professional athlete to benefit from working with an Athletic Therapist. Athletic Therapists specialize in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of all musculoskeletal issues, which means if you’ve injured a muscle, bone or joint or are active and want to mitigate injury or improve performance, then Athletic Therapy may be just the thing for you!

Employing a sport medicine model, Athletic Therapy includes assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and comprehensive patient education.

When should I see an Athletic Therapist?

It may be a good idea to consider athletic therapy when:

* You are experiencing physical pain or discomfort, that negatively impacts your daily life, your occupation or your ability to do physical activity.

* You are recovering from an injury or surgery and would like to return to your original activity level.

* You would like to increase your activity level, strengthen your body, and reduce the risk of injury.

GET STARTED
ASSESSMENT

Our Athletic Therapists will perform a detailed assessment to determine the true nature of your injury. We look for ways that your body is compensating because of injury, and we search for reasons why your body might have become injured in the first place. Above all, we look to get you stronger than before.

TREATMENT

After a thorough assessment, an Athletic Therapist will turn to a wide variety of treatment modalities including manual therapy and exercise-integrated techniques.

REHABILITATION

Our rehabilitation focus is on the most innovative techniques to help you recover from injury. Our ultimate goal is to get you back to activity or sport as quickly and safely as possible. We tailor your rehabilitation to your sport, your lifestyle, your goals and your individual needs. We aim to help you move better and feel stronger than before you were injured.

EDUCATION

Athletic Therapists view patient education as a crucial cornerstone to a healthy and rapid recovery. Athletic Therapy can include learning how to prevent re-injury and even learning about lifestyle factors that can help you get back to doing what you love faster.

“I can’t express how much I truly believe in the practice of Athletic Therapy. I initially came to the Athlete Centre a little unsure if an AT could necessarily help me with my lower back and neck pain which I was experiencing.

The amount of attention to detail that I experienced was amazing. If you are looking for a way of eliminating pain, mobility issues or even preventative care then I would 110% suggest using the Athlete Centre’s AT practitioners.”
