In this video, Athletic Therapist Sarah Black demonstrates the 6th level of the deadbug exercises, Contralateral Limb Lower.
The deadbug exercise is an effective movement designed to engage and strengthen the muscles around the hip, pelvis and trunk. The Contralateral Limb Lower builds off of our foundation of diaphragmatic breathing and works on maintain a strong core position while moving our limbs – an important skill for our day-to-day activities as well as sport. Contralateral means “opposite side” so you are moving the right leg and left arm together, and then alternating with the left leg and right arm.
The exercise ball gives us more feedback to increase intra-abdominal pressure and improve core engagement. It can also help us increase the intensity of the exercise
